We’re delighted to confirm that we’ve achieved a B score in our recent CDP 2025 assessment, marking a significant improvement on our previous scores.

This milestone provides clear, independent evidence of the progress we’ve made in measuring, managing, and reducing our carbon impacts. It reflects the collective effort we’ve made across the business to strengthen governance, improve data quality, and embed environmental responsibility into how we operate and deliver projects.

Achieving a B score places us among organisations that are taking coordinated and structured action on climate change, supported by defined processes and measurable outcomes.

ABOUT CDP

CDP logoEstablished in 2000, the CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) is an international non-profit organisation that operates the world’s leading environmental disclosure system.

Working globally across the UK, Europe, Asia, the Americas and beyond, CDP supports companies, cities, states, regions and public authorities to disclose, measure and manage their environmental impacts. Its focus spans climate change, water security and deforestation, helping organisations better understand environmental risks and opportunities while driving more sustainable decision-making.

CDP disclosure is undertaken through a detailed online assessment portal, requiring organisations to submit comprehensive information on governance, strategy, risk management, targets, emissions data and environmental performance. Submissions are independently scored using a robust and widely recognised methodology.

In 2024, nearly 25,000 organisations worldwide disclosed through CDP, reinforcing its role as the global benchmark for environmental reporting used by investors, customers and regulators. Of those organisations, only around 2% achieved an A score, highlighting the level of rigour applied to CDP assessments.

WHY CDP MATTERS TO US

CDP disclosure plays an important role in how REL demonstrates transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Through the CDP process, we are able to:

  • Transparently demonstrate environmental performance to stakeholders.
  • Identify & manage climate-related risks and opportunities.
  • Benchmark progress year-on-year using a globally recognised framework.
  • Align our reporting with evolving ESG & sustainability expectations.

Consistent measurement and disclosure enable us to move beyond statements of intent, providing credible, independent evidence of action and supporting the delivery of lower-carbon infrastructure solutions.

WHAT OUR B SCORE DEMONSTRATES

Achieving a B score indicates that we have effective systems and processes in place to manage environmental impacts and reduce emissions.

Our results show strong performance across key areas, including:

  • Governance & environmental policies.
  • Business strategy & climate risk management.
  • Energy use & emissions reduction initiatives.
  • Scope 1 & 2 emissions reporting.
  • Engagement across our value chain.

The improvement from our previous D score clearly demonstrates continued progress towards reduced carbon and more sustainable delivery, supported by improved data quality, strengthened governance, and robust internal controls.

LOOKING AHEAD

We are proud of this achievement and view it as an important milestone rather than an end point.

Our journey towards reduced carbon is ongoing, and this improved CDP score reflects both the progress already achieved and the ambition that continues to drive improvement across the business. We will continue to build on this progress and strive for further improvement in future CDP disclosures.
