Rayden Engineering Ltd has been a registered supplier on UVDB Verify for coming up to a decade now – Achilles ID: 00020953.
As part of our renewal process, we’re independently audited by Achilles every year. An in-depth assessment is carried out over 2 days evaluating our management systems and onsite operations.
And we’re delighted to say that we passed for the 9th year running, improving on last year’s result with a PERFECT 100% score.
ABOUT ACHILLES UVDB
Founded in 1990, Achilles provides supply chain risk and performance management services across a variety of industry sectors such as: oil and gas, construction, and utilities.
Achilles UVDB is the community for the UK utilities industry. Launched in 1996, it’s managed by a Steering Group consisting of key utility buyers who aim to drive industry best practices. It brings together 66 key buying organisations from across the UK along with 7,100 qualified suppliers.
After registering with the scheme suppliers need to build upon their initial application by completing an in-depth qualification questionnaire. This is designed to collect and validate detailed information about their company and products and, if successful, is used for the supplier’s profile that buyers view on-line.
In addition, suppliers that provide high risk services, like ourselves, are required to complete an annual UVDB Verify Audit for final validation.
WHAT IS UVDB VERIFY
UVDB Verify is a standard pre-qualification system for the UK utility industry. It is used to manage risk and compliance with UK regulations when selecting suitable suppliers.
It brings together a network of pre-qualified suppliers – that meet a strict code of best practice – with buyers who are looking for the best people for the job. This ensures that high industry standards are maintained and minimises any potential supply chain risks.
Buyers can simply access a highly skilled supply chain and invite them to tender without the need for any pre-qualifying stages. This provides assurance for buyers and speeds up the whole procurement process.
Our UVBD Verified and Silver Plus insignia demonstrates that we are a competent and trustworthy supplier for the UK utilities industry. It proves that we have the necessary skills, capabilities, and expertise to deliver high-quality services that exceed industry legislative needs.

UVDB VERIFY AUDITING PROCESS
Rayden Engineering Ltd are deemed to be a high-risk supplier. We fall into Category B2 of the programme, for large contractors – with £1m+ turnover and 20+ employees – who provide services on sites owned, managed, or controlled by a utility company.
As a result, our audit took place over two days in October and was split into two parts.
Day 1 – was completed at our head offices in Ilkeston and evaluated our Integrated Management Systems.
Day 2 – was a site-based assessment of our systems in practice to ensure proper measures are in place. This was completed at our Cowdenhill site in Falkirk Scotland, a £1.2m pipeline diversion contract for gas distribution company SGN.
Our audit was performed independently by an Achilles Assessor who carried out a rigorous evaluation of our internal systems and onsite performance to verify compliance.
Major focus was placed on Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, (QHSE) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – with a deep dive into our policies, processes, procedures and controls.
Both our Quality Manager, Sam Kelly and H&S Manager, Andrew Parsons – whom manage our UVDB Verify membership – were on hand to take full charge of the reassessment process.
Once complete our audit results were published online for authorised buyers to view.
