We were delighted to sponsor the recent Erewash Conservative Associations’ (ECA) race night fundraiser which took place last month.
ABOUT THE FUNDRAISER
This annual event, now in its seventh year, is a firm favourite in the ECA social calendar and always very well attended.
And this year was no exception with over 75 people, of all ages, gathering at the popular Erewash Valley Golf Club for an exciting evening of food, fun and fundraising.
Attendees were treated to a fabulous supper of homemade Steak Pie, Chips and Peas before hearing from guest of honour Maggie Throup, Conservative MP for Erewash, who gave a compelling speech about the borough with some positive insights regarding future developments.
AN ACTION-PACKED EVENING
An action- packed night of virtual horse racing began after food and speeches. Every bit as engaging as the real thing and guaranteed to get the blood flowing, races were projected onto a giant screen with live commentary, which added to authenticity.
The evening included a total of 8 races with 8 runners in each and a minimum stake of £1 set per bet. Win or lose, a fantastic evening of thrills and spills was had by all.
All profits – from money raised through bets placed, advertising in the race programme and sponsorship of races, horses, and jockeys – went to the ECA.
EVERYONES A WINNER
Winners, in addition to picking up their cash prizes, were also kindly given bottles of wine, spirits and chocolates by the ECA organising committee.
The race night was attended by our Managing Director (MD), Richard Hayden who is a long-time supporter of the ECA and keen advocate of the local Erewash District.
And Richard was delighted to come away as winner in the last race of the evening after backing ‘Happy Harry’ in the ‘The Maggie Throup Rishi’s Runner Cup’.
“It’s my absolute pleasure to support such a wonderful event that’s gone from strength to strength over the past 7 years. Maggie Throup MP and the ECA do some fantastic work for the Borough and certainly make sure that Erewash has a strong voice in Parliament which has really benefited our local businesses and the wider community.
I really enjoyed a fantastic evening, just like a real race meet it really got my heart pounding, especially when my horse came in first for the last race. I’m genuinely thrilled to come away as a winner.“Richard Hayden, Managing Director
