We’re delighted to announce that we’ve successfully passed our latest external audit for BS EN ISO 3834-2:2021, the internationally recognised standard for Welding Quality Management Systems (WQMS).

The assessment, conducted by TÜV UK, confirms our ongoing compliance with the standard and reflects the commitment of our welding teams across both workshop and on-site operations.

ABOUT BS EN ISO 3834-2:2021 WELDING QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

BS EN ISO 3834-2:2021 sets out the quality requirements for the fusion welding of metallic materials, covering both in-house workshop activities and all welding completed on-site during project delivery.

The standard ensures that welding operations are carried out safely, consistently, and to a repeatable, high-quality standard.

To comply with ISO 3834-2, we must demonstrate strong controls across every aspect of our welding activities, including:

  • Competence of Personnel: ensuring welders, welding coordinators, inspectors, and supervisors are trained, qualified, and regularly assessed.
  • Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS): maintaining approved procedures that guarantee consistent, repeatable, high-quality welds.
  • Material Control & Full Traceability: verifying correct material selection, storage, and documentation throughout the welding process.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: ensuring all welding and inspection equipment meets required tolerances.
  • Inspection, Testing, & NDT: applying rigorous checks to confirm weld integrity and compliance.
  • Documentation & Record-keeping: maintaining clear, complete, and transparent quality records for full accountability throughout welding lifecycle.

These requirements form the backbone of our Welding Quality Management System and help ensure every weld delivered by Rayden Engineering Ltd (REL) meets industry standards, supports asset integrity and provides our clients with confidence in the safety, reliability and long-term performance of their welded structures.

CERTIFIED TO GRADE 2 – THE HIGHEST STANDARD POSSIBLE

ISO 3834 includes three levels of quality requirements:

  1. Grade 4 – Basic
  2. Grade 3 – Standard
  3. Grade 2 – Comprehensive (Highest Level)

REL continues to be certified to Grade 2, confirming that our welding processes, personnel and quality controls meet the highest level recognised under BS EN ISO 3834-2:2021.

Working to this standard ensures we deliver consistent, high-integrity welds across both workshop and site operations, giving our clients confidence in the quality and reliability of every welded component.
